I must admit that I was angry a few months ago when the State of Michigan made the practice of conversion therapy illegal for professional counselors. If you are not familiar with the terminology, conversion therapy is the label used for counsel that is provided to someone struggling with perverse sexual desires such as homosexuality. It is counsel that helps direct the individual back to a proper biblical definition and healthy expression of their sexuality. It was determined by state leadership that this kind of counsel is damaging to an individual's right to express their sexual identity however they choose. This means it is now illegal to help "convert" someone from a perverse and self-destructive lifestyle, back to a
proper, healthy and fulfilling one. It is the twisted reasoning of blind, arrogant, and godless rulers who are ultimately serving the prince of darkness. Thankfully, we as followers of Jesus Christ know the importance of conversion therapy. It is our duty to speak light into the darkness and that which can turn lost, perverse souls back to the Lord before it is too late. We know it is not only the sexually perverse that need conversion therapy, all of us do. We have all, like simple minded sheep, gone astray and turned from the Lord to doing things our own way. Jesus Christ has called us to "repent" or "convert" to the Lord by confessing our sinfulness and trusting in His death on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and in His promise of eternal life to all who ask Him. Jesus preached conversion therapy! Therefore, we as God's people continue to boldly do the same. Conversion therapy is the sacred and essential mission of the church.
